RUST WELDING PAINT ASSEMBLY FINISHED

Welding the 911 Shell !

This site is a photo archive of the restoration of my 1977 Porsche 911 carrera 3.0.

The lower portions of the rear quarters were kept ready to be welded back on

All the factory applied stone guard was removed from the inner wings and floor pan to expose any hidden rust

Doors are temporarily fitted to ensure correct gaping

Front wings are also temporarily fitted

Genuine Porsche panels were used throughout, these are more expensive than reproduction parts but are more accurate and require less fitting time. In the garage where my car was being restored there were other 911's also being repaired, other owners had opted for the cheaper panels and i could see that they did not fit as well as the genuine pressings. It is interesting how Porsche can still supply most of the items needed to restore a 911 even for cars that are 30 + years old. I know of someone that ordered a new (old stock) oil tank for a 1973 2.4S at a cost of £550 (approx $800)

When the stone guard was removed only a small floor edge repair was required

Apart from the two bumper brackets the front compartment was in good condition showing no accident damage

New factory bumper iron fitted
