Repairing the rust! This was the worst part, the car looked quite acceptable until the panels came off. If you are considering purchasing an older Porsche 911 then in my opinion it is wise to check the bodywork very carefully as repairs can be very expensive, potentially more epensive than engine or gearbox rebuilds. This is the bracket that the telescopic arms and impact bumpers attach to the body. Road debris collects above and behind the old bumper iron. If you are buying a pre 89 911 then this is a good place to check. Debris collects behind here, plus Porsche 911's were not painted very well in the lower area where the sill end cap is simply because it was hard for the paint spray to reach there.
