RUST WELDING PAINT ASSEMBLY FINISHED

Finally painting my 911

I spent approximately one week, ie. five days about 6-7 hours per day stripping the car of the original Wurth undersealant.

The grey shown here was temporary whilst other areas were completed, this was to protect the freshly welded areas.

The whole of the underneath in etch primer including under the wheel arches and engine and front compartment

The car was mounted on a wooden dolley for ease of movement, a 911 bodyshell is surprisingly light

To retain some originality I decided to leave the original finish on the upper part of the front compartment. The Porsche factory had 'shot' the paint very thin here

The engine bay was completely stripped and repainted

Kept wondering why i was doing this, especially the underside of the car as no one will even see this

Final base coat and clear coat on all 'under' surfaces

Stone guard was applied to all under surfaces before repainting

Seam sealant was also used were appropriate

Hours and hours of flatting down

Temporary fitting of bonnet and wings to ensure correct gapping. Porsche 911 bodyshells were hand made, ie, pressed panels spot welded together by hand and not robots, they frequently had lead filling so consequently it is quite a task to refit panels accurately, retaining the panels gaps.
